Flexibility

SESSION 1 OF 5

Duration 15mins 55secs

TAKE THE QUIZ:

In this session, Dr John Boorman investigates flexibility. Flexibility is at the heart of all ACT work. It sits in the centre of the ACT treatment model and has been the subject of multiple studies into its effectiveness as an intervention. Dr John Boorman provides an overview of why experiential avoidance (aka inflexibility) is related to a host of psychological problems. He demonstrates how organising and understanding other core processes (e.g. thinking, feeling and behaving) is necessary before meaningful choices about how we want to live our life can be made. Dr Boorman illustrates how some actions are simply harder to do than others but where choice can be central to solving the different dilemmas we face.
