Phase 4: Restricted Desensitisation « you are here
In this session, Dr Jennifer Sweeton demonstrates Phase 4 of EMDR desensitisation. This phase can be conducted in multiple ways. This session demonstrates one method of conducting desensitisation, called “restricted desensitisation.”

Phase 4: Unrestricted Desensitisation
In this session, Dr Jennifer Sweeton demonstrates phase 4 of EMDR, desensitisation. Classic EMDR has historically emphasised “unrestricted desensitisation” when completing Phase 4. This session demonstrates how to lead clients through unrestricted desensitisation.

Phase 6: Classic EMDR Body Scan
In this session, Dr Jennifer Sweeton demonstrates phase 6 of EMDR, the body scan. This consists of desensitising to physical sensations associated with the client’s trauma. Dr Sweeton demonstrates a classic EMDR body scan.

Phase 6: Modified EMDR Body Scan
In this session, Dr Jennifer Sweeton demonstrates an alternative method for conducting Phase 6, the body scan.

Phase 5: Installation
In this session, Dr Jennifer Sweeton demonstrates Phase 5 of EMDR: Installation. This phase focuses on installing, or integrating, the client’s positive cognition using slow bilateral stimulation. Dr Sweeton demonstrates Phase 5 in its entirety.

Phase 7-8: Tips
In this session, Dr Jennifer Sweeton investigates Phases 7 and 8 of EMDR. Phases 7 and 8 focus on helping clients summarise and maintain the gains they’ve made in EMDR. Dr Sweeton shares practical tips for clinicians conducting Phases 7 and 8.
